Happy Caturday, everyone! Time for a weekly dose of cat eye candy. Actually, this weekend it’s EAR candy.
(Ok, that sounds a bit gross, doesn’t it? Let’s just move on to the picture)
Isn’t he a hoot? I just love these big dumbo ears!
Kittens are born with tiny folded ears that simply sprout and blossom into huge satellite dishes when they are about 4-5 weeks old. Their ears grow so far, they almost always seem to outgrow the kitten underneath them.
All the more so with Oriental kittens, like this one in the picture. Oriental cats have huge ears as adults too. It’s even in the official breed standard –
EARS: strikingly large, pointed, wide at the base, continuing the lines of the wedge
Put those huge ears on a young kitten and you get this adorable kitten that looks as if he can take off and fly into the air at any second!
What do you think? Is it just me, or does this kitten really have exceptionally large ears? Leave me a comment! Are any of your friends cat lovers? If so, why not share this on Facebook so they can enjoy a Caturday Smile too!
