11 Cat Puzzle Feeders that will keep your cat healthy and happy

I’ve blogged before about the the Catit Senses Food Tree which is an awesome entertaining feeding center for kitties. There are so many great cat puzzle feeders out there that I wanted to return to this topic and highlight a few more. I think you’ll find their names and designs entertaining in their own right.

Should you even look for cat puzzle feeders for your cat?

Each cat is different. Some cats don’t like working for their food and some just don’t need it. Some cats are more likely to benefit from cat puzzle feeders than others.

Overweight cats who eat too much are prime candidates for puzzle feeders. They benefit from the slowed-down eating pace that’s created by having to fish for their food, one small bit a time.

Older kittens (or younger cats, depending on your point of view) can have a great time with cat puzzle feeders too. These kitties crave entertainment and can’t get enough of mental and physical exercise. They absolutely should be encouraged to “play with their food”. It’s an outlet for their neverending energy that is far less destructive than anything else they may come across in your home.

If you leave your cat along for long hours at a time, one of these feeding puzzles can be a great way to provide extra entertainment. Fighting boredom is crucial to keep these kitties stress-free.

Give one of these a try even if your cat doesn’t fall under the above categories. After all, every cat needs mental stimulation and if they’re willing to engage with these cat puzzle feeders that’s bound to be good for their mental and physical health.

Which of these cat Puzzle Feeders should you get for your cat?

That’s a great question. As you can see, they vary in many ways. Some present actual puzzles which require several stages to solve. Others offer see-through panels for Kitty to track the treat or food with her eyes. There are even feeders that are simply a food dish designed to force your cat to paw at the food to get it out.

The level of interaction required should match your cat’s abilities. Generally speaking, younger active cats may need the extra challenge of an actual maze or puzzle. For older cats that just need help with weight loss, a food dish that slows down their eating may be best.

You know your cat and her needs so you can probably tell which of these would be best for her. Don’t be afraid to experiment because if you can get her to use one – just about anyone – it will greatly enhance your cat’s quality of life.

Leave me a comment to let me know which one of these cat puzzle feeders you think would work best for your kitty and why.
