Many cats get along just fine without ever getting their coat shampooed. For shorthairs, their own self-grooming is often enough. However, there are times when you may want to wash your cat, either preparing for a cat show, or just to help Kitty get rid of some substance that got all over her coat.
This is when the issue of which cat shampoo to use comes up. One thing is certain: never use a regular shampoo intended for humans on your cat. It will be too harsh on their delicate skin, and may cause severe aggravation if it comes in contact with their eyes. Here’s a great option instead:
Mrs. Meyers Oatmeal Pet Shampoo
This rather plain looking bottle holds a natural no-tear shampoo designed specifically for cats. Made with natural ingredients including Oatmeal Extract and Vitamin E, it is easy on the cat’s skin and will cause no harm if it accidentally gets into its eyes (just keep in mind, that you are not supposed to wash Kitty’s face, and always keep water away from their eyes and ears!).
